Questions? We've got you.
Thinking about your first Yogibare class? You're probably not the first guy to wonder about the naked part, the yoga part—or what exactly happens once you walk through the door.
Here are the things people ask us most.
Do I have to be naked?
It depends on the class.
Tuesday classes are nude, and everyone practises naked.
Sundays at 2pm at Kula Annex are clothing-optional. Practise nude, in underwear or in shorts—whatever lets you feel comfortable enough to enjoy the class.
We'll always make the dress expectations clear when you book.
Why nude?
Because a lot of us aren't actually that comfortable in our bodies—even when we're home alone.
Yogibare creates a space to experience your body more directly: moving, breathing, sweating, stretching and simply being in it without needing to hide, perform or fix anything.
The goal isn't to become someone different. It's to get more comfortable with what you already have.
For some guys, practising nude feels freeing right away. For others, it takes a little time. Either way, the practice is about embodiment—getting out of your head and building a more comfortable relationship with the body you're already in.
I've never done yoga before. Can I come?
Absolutely.
You don't need to be flexible, experienced or particularly bendy to be a Yogibare. Our classes are designed to be accessible to different experience levels, with options and modifications offered along the way.
You're here to explore your body—not prove something with it.
If you have an injury, limitation or anything else your instructor should know about, let them know before class.
Do I need a "yoga body"?
Good news: if you have a body, you already have one.
Yogibare isn't a room full of one age, shape, size or fitness level. Part of practising together is getting a little more comfortable showing up as we actually are.
You don't need abs. You don't need to be flexible. You don't need to look like the guy on Instagram.
Come as you are.
Who can come to Yogibare?
Current Yogibare classes and workshops are for cis men, 18+.
Yogibare has offered all-gender classes in the past, and we plan to bring all-gender programming back in the future.
Do I have to be gay?
Nope.
Yogibare has a strong queer community, but your sexuality isn't an admission requirement. Gay, bi, queer, straight, questioning and otherwise—if this is a space that fits you and you respect the people in it, you're welcome.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. All Yogibare classes and workshops are 18+.
We check ID for Pay Your Age pricing and may also ask for ID if there is any question about whether a participant is 18 or older.
What is Pay Your Age?
If you're 18 to 30, you can pay your age for each credit you use toward a Yogibare class or workshop. So if you're 24, a credit costs $24; if you're 30, it's $30.
For classes, book as usual and choose the Pay Your Age ticket option from the drop-down. Please bring ID so we can verify your age.
For workshops, you can use credits or email info@yogibare.ca and we'll help you figure out the best option.
It's our way of making Yogibare a little more accessible to younger guys.
So... is this sexual?
Yoga classes are not sexual.
Being naked, being attracted to someone or noticing other bodies doesn't make a class sexual. Everyone is expected to keep their behaviour respectful and focused on the practice.
Yogibare is also about community. You're welcome to talk, make friends, exchange numbers or connect with someone after class. Respectful interest is fine; unwanted attention isn't.
Some workshops explore touch, sensuality and intimacy more directly. We'll always describe that clearly before you book so you know what you're signing up for.
Depending on the workshop, this may include consensual partner or group touch and, where explicitly stated in advance, masturbation. Yogibare workshops do not include kissing on the lips, oral sex, anal sex or penetrative sexual activity.
Consent applies throughout. You can always say no, change your mind or step out of an activity.
What if I get an erection?
Yep. We knew you were wondering.
Bodies sometimes do things on their own. An involuntary erection isn't something you need to be embarrassed about or panic over.
Keep practising, take a resting pose if you'd rather, and let your body do its thing without turning it into somebody else's experience.
During yoga classes, intentional sexual stimulation or masturbation isn't appropriate.
Some workshops may specifically include masturbation as part of the experience. If that's the case, it will be clearly explained before you register—never sprung on you once you're in the room.
Can I look at other people?
You don't have to spend the whole class staring heroically at one spot on the wall.
You'll naturally see other people as you move around the room. That's different from staring, gawking or making somebody feel watched.
A good rule: enjoy the freedom of being seen without making somebody else feel like they're on display.
What happens at Yogibare stays at Yogibare?
Yes.
Please respect the privacy of the people you practise with.
You're welcome to talk about your own experience at Yogibare, but don't identify other attendees, share personal details about them or tell other people who was there.
If you bump into another Yogibare somewhere else, let them decide whether they want to acknowledge how you know each other.
Speak to your experience—not someone else's.
Are phones allowed?
Yogibare is a digital-free zone during sessions.
Phones, smartwatches and other electronic devices must stay tucked away with your personal belongings for the entire class or workshop.
Please turn devices off or set them to silent before the session begins.
Apart from protecting everyone's privacy, going digital-free gives all of us permission to be fully in the room rather than half on our screens.
Can I take photos or videos?
Not during a Yogibare class or workshop.
The digital-free policy means devices stay put away for the duration of the session.
If Yogibare organizes photography for promotional purposes, it will be separate from the normal practice and participation will be clearly communicated and based on consent.
Will the instructor touch me?
Sometimes, but not often.
Our teachers don't rely heavily on hands-on adjustments. If an instructor wants to offer one, they'll ask first.
You can always say no.
Consent isn't something you give once at the door. You can change your mind at any time.
What happens in classes with partner work?
Some Yogibare classes intentionally explore connection through partner poses, supported stretches or consent-based touch.
We'll tell you when you book if partner work is part of the experience.
You can opt out of partner work, a particular exercise or a particular match without needing to explain why.
Do I need to bring a partner?
No.
If a class or workshop includes partner work, you can come on your own. You'll be matched with another participant during the session.
You can always opt out of a particular exercise or decline a match if it doesn't feel right for you.
What about classes without partner work?
If a class says solo poses, that's what we mean.
For example, our Sunday Body Language hot yoga class uses solo poses and does not include partner work.
What should I bring?
Bring:
- your yoga mat
- water
- a towel
Everyone needs a mat.
At Kula Annex, loaner mats are available for $2 cash.
For hot yoga, bring enough water to stay comfortably hydrated.
Where do I change?
It depends on the studio.
At Somos Studios, everyone changes together at the back of the practice space. Cubbies are available for your clothing and belongings.
At Kula Annex, there are two change rooms with showers, washrooms, benches and hooks for hanging bags and clothing.
What about hygiene?
Come clean and ready to practise.
For partner classes and workshops especially, do a quick check of your body odour and breath before getting close to somebody else.
We usually have body wipes and mints available if you need one. Just ask.
No drama. We've got you.
Is Yogibare a sober space?
Yes.
We ask everyone to help create a sober space for themselves and the people they're practising with.
Please stay well hydrated and abstain from substances for at least 12 hours before class or a workshop.
For some people, that may also mean being mindful of high levels of caffeine, sugar or anything else that noticeably changes how they show up in the space.
Medications taken as prescribed are, of course, excluded.
Think of it as an experiment in becoming comfortable in your body—and with yourself—as you are.
What if I'm nervous?
Very normal.
For some guys, the hardest part of naked yoga is the five minutes before their first naked yoga class.
You don't have to arrive feeling fearless. Give yourself time to settle in, meet the instructor and get comfortable with the room.
Once everyone starts moving and breathing, you'd be surprised how quickly naked can start feeling pretty ordinary.
When should I arrive?
Doors open 15 minutes before class.
First time? We recommend using the full 15 minutes. It gives you time to find the space, meet your instructor, change, set up your mat and get comfortable before things begin.
Our doors lock when class begins so that everyone inside has a private, uninterrupted practice.
Late arrivals can't be admitted.
What happens if I'm late?
Once class starts, the doors are locked and we can't let late arrivals in.
Missed classes due to late arrival aren't eligible for a refund or credit.
Give yourself a little Toronto-buffer time.
Are the studios accessible?
Unfortunately, neither of our current studio locations is fully accessible.
If you have a mobility or access question before booking, contact us and we'll give you the most useful information we can about the particular space.
Can I drop in, or do I have to join a series?
Both.
Depending on the class, Yogibare offers full series, individual drop-ins and credit packs.
Workshops can also be booked separately or, where indicated, using credits.
Check the current schedule for the options available.
How do Yogibare credit packs work?
A 5-credit pack lasts for 2 months.
A 10-credit pack lasts for 3 months.
Credits can be used across Yogibare classes and workshops, giving you flexibility to mix different experiences.
Individual experiences may require more than one credit, so check the booking details before reserving.
What is your refund policy?
All sales are final. We don't offer refunds or exchanges.
We know life occasionally throws something genuinely unexpected at you. For extraordinary circumstances, email info@yogibare.ca and we'll consider the situation on a case-by-case basis.
What if I have a question that feels awkward to ask?
Ask us.
Seriously. Someone has probably asked it before.
Yogibare is about getting a little more comfortable in our bodies, and sometimes that starts with simply knowing what to expect.
